How it's calculated
- Definition
- Customer Satisfaction Score (CSAT) is a transactional metric: it asks how satisfied a customer was with a specific interaction, purchase or feature, usually on a 1–5 scale.
- Formula
- CSAT = (number of 4 and 5 ratings ÷ total ratings) × 100.
- Benchmark
- Many teams treat 75–85% as solid and above 85% as excellent. The trend per channel and per agent tells you more than one blended number.
Our take
CSAT is the most actionable of the three classic scores because it's tied to a moment. Send it right after the interaction, keep it to one question plus a comment box, and you'll learn more than from any annual survey.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a good CSAT score?
75–85% is common for healthy support teams; above 85% is excellent. Compare channels and teams against each other rather than against a global average.
Should CSAT use a 1–5 or 1–10 scale?
1–5 is the most common and the easiest for customers. Whatever you choose, keep it consistent so trends stay comparable.
When should I send a CSAT survey?
Immediately after the interaction it measures, such as a closed ticket, delivery or onboarding call, while the experience is fresh.
